I spotted this poignant scene yesterday afternoon, in a churchyard; yes, that’s a war memorial in the background. Artificial flowers in vases nearby looked cheap and tawdry in comparison. These real flowers, together with seed-heads, were themselves a reminder that memory is organic; poppies die, but more will come again. Those who died in battle will not be forgotten.

A beautiful photo and beautiful words
I spotted poppies yesterday too, I’m sure it is late for them , but what a pretty picture they make and purposeful words
That certainly is a poignant image and makes for a very beautiful photo.
Great photo and a lovely sentiment. You’ve reminded me it’s almost Armistice Day.
I love poppies, they are a rare delight, I love the angle of the shot, and you can tell they are poppies without even seeing the black centre.

Thank you for linking up
Lovely capture. I’ve seen so many poppies about this year, they’re the one flower which always makes me pause and think, and rightly so.
How lovely that they’re still flowering
