Aww is the bridge being demolished, hope not, I prefer to think they are restoring it, I have a fondness for bridges, apart from yesterdays one.
Thankfully, not altogether. Sadly, this bridge had been getting weaker for some time, so the span has been demolished and is being replaced with concrete beams. The handrails are being restored and refitted, but I’m not sure whether or not the outer cast iron spans will be restored and replaced to preserve the look, or not. Thanks for your interest, Jo.
Nice pic. Where is this?
Over the Trent and Mersey Canal, at a place called Findern, 10 miles West of Shardlow.
Great photo. I hope the bridge is feeling better soon (clearly spending too much time with young children, having read that comment…)
It is getting better after drastic surgery. But on the night of this photo, the situation was further compounded when the 500-ton capacity crane got a bad tummy-ache. The doctor had to be sent for!
For a moment I thought this was some apocalyptic scene of doom. I’m almost relieved it’s a bridge being demolished. I need more sleep.
wow that is a truly amazing photo. I’m so impressed. It’s gorgeous.x
Glad I read the comments. My kitchen can look like this after a disaster, so I just assumed…. Poor bridge. Happens to us all, I guess!
I hope it is restored to its former glory. It’s a beautiful bridge.
Brilliant photo, so much going on. Like motherventing, it took me a while to figure out (must wear my glasses more often). Poor bridge – you will be happy to have this photo when it is all restored, to remember what it was like in all its (faded) glory.

That Firefly Phil bloke, still knocking out photography and other stuff.
