Once again, this shot is from a visit to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, Wirkworth, Derbyshire. The unusual perspective here was only possible to obtain because a) the loco was coupled to the coach by its front (smoke-box) end, and b) the coach in use had a glazed door at the end. you’ll notice there is very little smoke; this is because this shot was taken while travelling down a steep incline, so very little power is required. Just an hour earlier, I had the experience of riding on the footplate of this same loco!

Fab photo. The unusual perspective makes it feel like the train is coming right out at the viewer.
what a brilliant perspective! I love steam trains although it’s been quite a while since I’ve been on one. We used to go quite regularly to a local steam railway museum but it used to be free and now they’ve started charging a small fortune just for entry
These steam train photos really make me want to go and travel on one
Thank you for linking up
So cool getting this perspective.
Sounds like a great place to visit. We love our local train attractions here too
Fantastic photo! Sounds like you had a great time x
Agree with Sarah! This photo looks like the train is headed towards me! #mysundayphoto
